Petition - Upgrade Canterbury Sports Ground

Help us fund upgrades at Canterbury Sports Ground

Since elected, Paul Hamer (Member for Box Hill) and I (Member for Hawthorn) have advocated for infrastructure investment in our respective electorates and have collectively secured over $60M in Hawthorn and Box Hill for upgrades to local schools and sporting facilities.

But there’s always more work to be done.

That’s why Paul and I are asking you to sign this petition to help us secure much needed funding to upgrade Canterbury Sports Ground.

Canterbury Sports Ground is home to three sporting clubs – Canterbury Cricket Club, Canterbury Football Club and Canterbury Junior Football Club – with a combined membership, playing group and supporter base of approximately 4000 people.

What needs to be done?

• Build more inclusive clubroom and changeroom facilities that cater for younger age groups, veterans and women.
• Expand the facilities to cope with growing membership numbers.
• Build facilities that create a sense of belonging and inclusion for girls and women, and provide greater privacy.
• Lift the clubrooms to address flooding issues and allow spectators of all abilities to enjoy watching the game.

Boroondara Council have provided the clubs with $2.2M for their renovation. But that is not enough to build the inclusive facilities the clubs require. That’s why I am working to help them secure the extra funding they need.

These new facilities will also benefit other sporting clubs and community organisations.
