Gardiner’s Creek Loan of $5.4M

Constituency Question

My question is for the Minister for Community Sport and concerns the $5.4 million loan provided to the Gardiners Creek corridor trail in my electorate of Hawthorn in the latest round of the government’s community sports infrastructure loans scheme. The scheme provides low-interest government-guaranteed loans of between $500 000 and $10 million to councils, clubs, associations, educational institutions and facility managers to develop high-quality community sport and active recreational infrastructure. Gardiners Creek Trail is a shared-use path for cyclists and pedestrians following picturesque Gardiners Creek. I visited the trail with the member for Burwood in February. How lucky we are to have this oasis in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

My question is this: how will the community in my electorate of Hawthorn benefit from the loan? I look forward to the minister’s response.
