Minister for Innovation, Medical Research and the Digital Economy, Jaala Pulford, visited the Hawthorn electorate last Monday to open Compass Education’s new Australian Headquarters on Burwood Road. John Kennedy MP attended alongside colleagues Will Fowles MP and Nina Taylor MP to celebrate the Hawthorn success story that is John de la Motte and Lucas Filer.
As a former school principal and educator, Mr Kennedy marvelled at the difference Compass’ digital platform has made to schools’ operating processes.
“In my day, teachers used to mark the roll on paper. Thanks to clever innovators like John de la Motte and Lucas Filer, teachers can now do these everyday school management tasks on their phones”, said John Kennedy MP.
Lucas and John started Compass Education in a lounge room 10 years ago and today they celebrated moving into their new office, right here in Hawthorn. They now employ 150 staff and their software is used by over 1600 education providers in Victoria and abroad. Their school management platform has drastically transformed the way schools do enrolments, track student attendance, and communicate results and other information to students and parents.
