Breast Screening Services Remain Open

Breast screening services, including BreastScreen, have remained open during the COVID-19 pandemic, with COVID-safe measures in place including physical distancing and additional time between appointments to allow for thorough cleaning.

Eligible Victorians have access to free breast screening and assessment through BreastScreen Victoria at 42 permanent screening clinics, and at 25 metropolitan and regional sites across Victoria that are visited every two years by the mobile screening service. If there is need to have further assessment Victorians can attend one of nine Reading and Assessment Services across the state, which provide follow-up tests free of charge. In the Hawthorn electorate there is a BreastScreen Victoria clinic at 563 Riversdale Road, please call 132 050 to make an appointment.

The Andrews Government has committed additional funding to cancer screening services to address the impact of COVID-19 through screening catch-up and community engagement, including through funding of $91 million in the 2021/22 Victorian Budget to support catch-up of deferred services.
